Video Game Challenge: Mario Maker!

Begins: Friday, May 1st
Submission deadline: Sunday, May 3rd at 11:59 p.m.

It’s a Mario Maker challenge! Let’s jump right in. This weekend, your mission is to build an awesome Mario Maker course with the following guidelines:

  • Beginner: make a course that has goombas, koopas, piranha plants, and at least one pipe.
  • Advanced: make a course that has a door that needs a key, and a P switch.
  • Expert: make a level with an on/off switch and a track.

If you’re playing Mario Maker 1, you can still submit to us! Just be creative and show us your best work. Once you’re happy with your course, send a pic or video to info@clarington-library.on.ca by Sunday, May 3rd at 11:59 p.m. with Mario Maker Challenge in the subject line. Send along a course code if you want other library members to be able to play along with you!

The pick for May 7th is The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. This light-hearted, feel good novel takes readers on an adventure with the handsome but awkward genetics professor as he seeks true love. Despite his methodical search strategies to find the perfect match, he discovers that sometimes, despite your best scientific efforts, you don’t find love, it finds you.

  • Expert – Rainbow Road SNES: 2:20.111

Get creative and show off your Minecraft skills! Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to build one of the following branches of the Clarington Public Library: 

  • Beginner: Build the Newcastle Branch 
  • Advanced: Build the Orono Branch or the Courtice Branch 
  • Expert: Build the Bowmanville Branch 

When complete, take a screenshot or picture and email it to info@clarington-library.on.ca by Monday, April 13th at 11:59 p.m. Include “Minecraft Challenge” and the branch name in the subject line. Creations will be showcased on Tuesday, April 14!
