Support your Library and visit the Newcastle Branch during the Harvest Festival for our largest book sale ever!

Books donated by the community and removed from the Library will be available for purchase all day at bargain rates, and all the proceeds will come back to support the Library.

Food for Fines

The Library’s annual Food for Fines drive returns this holiday season! Help families in Clarington while reducing your Library fines.

From December 1st to 15th, bring in non-perishable food items to receive $1 per item off any fines you have on your Library account (to a maximum of $5). It’s a great way to give back and celebrate the holidays!

All donated items will be distributed to food banks serving the Clarington community.

Registration includes a notebook with reading challenges, stickers, and more. You and your child can pick these up at any branch starting Tuesday, July 2 or at any TD Summer Reading Club program.

Programs are weekly and will run from Tuesday, July 2 to Friday, August 23. Special Epic Experiences will be jam-packed with celebratory fun and memory-making moments! View the online program calendar, or download a printable booklet!

Cost $60; includes participant manual.
Recommended that attendees bring a lunch or snack. 

This course teaches your teen the fundamental skills they need to start their own babysitting service. A Red Cross certified instructor from React Right Safety Services teaches the class.

Topics include:

  • How to give appropriate care for infants, toddlers and school-aged children;
  • Dealing with basic First Aid emergencies;
  • How to recognize potential hazards;
  • What parents expect of a babysitter;
  • How to safely find customers; and
  • Rural babysitting.

Note: Bring a teddy bear to practice on!

Caregivers and support staff for people with disabilities are admitted free of charge.
