Counting Week 2019

- Comments: 0

Heart made out of book pages, Counting Week banner.

Show your support, and get counted when it counts!

As part of the information sent to the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport, Clarington Public Library has designated its Counting Week as Monday, November 18th through Sunday, November 24th.

It's easy to show your support! Drop by any Library branch to attend a program, borrow books or movies for your family, or use the WiFi and quiet study space. You can also show your support from home by downloading an eBook or eMagazine, or accessing an eResource like World Book Encyclopedia!

Anonymous statistical information sent to the Ministry includes:

  • Circulation of materials, including books, magazines, movies, eBooks, etc.;
  • In-library materials use;
  • Use of eResources and database searches;
  • Use of public computers and WiFi;
  • Reference inquiries;
  • Visits to the Library, including walk-in and electronic; and
  • Social media impressions.

More Information about the Ontario Public Libraries Annual Survey Week

Similar usage statistics will be recorded by other public libraries across the province this month as part of Ontario Public Libraries Annual Survey Week, which helps create a picture of public library usage locally and throughout Ontario. The information is gathered and administered by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport, which requires all public libraries in the province to measure their activities during a typical week in the month of November.

Courtice Literacy Ship Launch

- Comments: 0

Join Clarington Public Library for the grand launch of the Courtice Literacy Ship!

The Ship is an architectural furniture piece designed to attract families to the Branch’s children’s area. It features interactive play stations that help build children’s early literacy skills.

The Library will be celebrating the launch of the Literacy Ship at a special event and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, October 23 at the Courtice Branch (2950 Courtice Rd.). The event starts at 4:00 p.m., with an official ceremony at 4:30 p.m.

The Literacy Ship would not have been possible without the generous support of numerous sponsors, including Ontario Power Generation (OPG), LiUNA Local 183, and Veridian Connections/Elexicon Energy.

For more information, please see our recent press release.
