Beat the dreaded "Summer Brain Drain" with the annual TD Summer Reading Club, Canada’s biggest summer reading program for kids of all ages, all interests and all abilities.

Do you like cool stuff, amazing facts and mysterious fiction? What makes you curious and creative? Explore your neighbourhood, library, museum, and the world around you! Show off your collections and creations. Have fun collaborating and creating new things with others!

Drop in to weekly in-person programs and special events! Children can boost their reading skills and stay sharp for school by learning through play and hands-on activities this July and August!
 

Class Visits for the Club

Educators! We’d love to meet your class! The Library can offer a visit tailored to your grade at your school or local branch. We’ll highlight the TD Summer Reading Club and help your students prepare for a successful September.

Accessibility

The TD SRC is for children of all abilities, no matter how they read! Find SRC notebooks adapted for physical, visual, or learning disabilities on the national TD Summer Reading Club website, with SRC books in a variety of accessible formats, such as DAISY audio and braille.

TD SRC members will have access to book reporting, special challenges, and prize draws! After you register, be sure drop by any branch starting June 12 to pick up your activity book, stickers, and web access code!

SRC Kick-Off Party!

Waverley Place grounds: Friday, June 30, 11am-2pm • All ages

Celebrate the start of the TD Summer Reading Club! Register for the SRC, enjoy performances from Dan the Music Man, take part in activities hosted by the Library & Museums and community partners, and sample some refreshments!
 

Princess Storytime

Newcastle: Monday, July 10, 6pm

Dress up for a most royal storytime! Meet some of your favourite princesses and enjoy tales from far, far away!
 

Superhero Storytime

Come dressed as your favourite caped crusaders to meet an intrepid web-slinger!
 

Firefighter Storytime

All program drop in.

Ages 0 to 3

Tales for Tots
Enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes designed to help build early literacy skills and get your child ready to read.
 

Ages 0 to 5

Stay & Play
Children and their caregivers can play, explore, and socialize. This is a casual program; please feel free to arrive late or leave early.
 

Grades JK to 6

Curious Collectors
Explore collecting and curating items to make them into fun collections to share! Gather your own items, explore art in nature, learn how to make displays, and share creations from your imagination with the Museum this summer!

Discover Stories
Dive into the world of books and stories! Uncover new stories, captivating books, exciting comics, and more! Learn about the wonderful world of storytelling and discover new and exciting tales to spark your imagination.

Let’s Investigate!
Explore the world around you with weekly STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) challenges. Inspire your curiosity and a love for learning and science through hands-on activities and exploration.

Pop-Up Makerspace
Let your imagination soar with a variety of arts & crafts! Express your creativity while exploring new and fun maker tools.
 

Grades 4 to 6

Chill Zone
Embark on weekly challenges, play your favorite video games, and try out some board games. Socialize, have fun and make new friends!
 

All Ages

Park Pop-Ups
Find us at parks across Clarington all summer! Every Monday we’ll be popping-up at different parks in your community. Keep an eye out on our socials and website for details!

Picnic and Play
Pack a picnic lunch and join us on the lawn at Waverley Place for stories, songs, and outdoor games! Weather permitting.
