Scientists in School Workshops

Take part in one of these fun virtual Scientists in School workshops this summer! Explore STEAM concepts (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) at home, including surface tension, chemistry, pollination, seeds, colour, motion, light, solubility, absorption, and so much more!

Please limit your registration to one workshop per family, to ensure as many people as possible may enjoy these programs! Registration opens two weeks before each workshop.

Soap bubbles.

Good Clean Fun!

Friday, June 9, 4pm

Fun with soap and water? You’ll be astonished when you investigate surface tension; explore the chemistry behind bath bombs; and make your own to use at home. It’ll be an explosion of chemical fun!

(Registration opens Friday, May 26, 10am)

Bee on a flower.

Noticing Nature

Tuesday, June 13, 6pm

Chicka-dee-dee-dee. Who was that? Play a game to discover nature sounds around us. Buzz your newly created bee around flowers to pollinate them. Investigate seeds and make a seed caterpillar that will grow over time. Notice all that nature has to offer, big and small!

(Registration opens Tuesday, May 30, 10am)

Outer space.

Science Meets Art!

Wednesday, June 14, 4pm

Discover what happens when science meets art! Explore perception as you use shadows, colour, motion, and light to create art from science. You’ll make a puppet, a spinning top and a kaleidoscope, as well as design your own galaxy.

(Registration opens Wednesday, May 31, 10am)

Da Vinci invention.

Do You Like Da Vinci!

Thursday, June 15, 6pm

Da Vinci was an accomplished artist and skilled scientist and you can be too! Paint to explore solubility, absorption and surface tension. Weave a colourful pattern to model climate change. Create a pneumatic creature to investigate the power of air. Discover the joy of combining science and art!

(Registration opens Thursday, June 1, 10am)
