Accessible Collection: Decodables
Decodable books and text passages are an important part of a structured literacy approach to reading instruction, using letter-sounds and spelling that have been explicitly taught. These books are especially important for students with dyslexia (or any reader in early stages of literacy) because they provide reading practice, help build fluency, and gain confidence as they become proficient with word-level reading. Explore our full Decodable collection via our online Library catalogue!
We’ll be expanding our Accessible Collection soon! Stay tuned to our website and social media channels for more details.

eBooks and eAudiobooks are great options for people with visual impairments and print disabilities. We have many titles available in our eCollection, including your favourite magazines, newspapers and other non-fiction, and the novels on your TBR list! Some platforms offer text enlargement text to speech!

Large Print, Audiobooks
Library members with visual impairments or print disabilities can depend on our collection of large print and audiobooks to keep you entertained, informed, or enthralled in anticipation of the next plot twist! In addition to our eCollection, we offer print LP books and audiobooks on CD. Place your hold today!

CELA, TD Summer Reading Club
The Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) provides accessible materials for TD Summer Reading Club participants! For more information, please visit the CELA website, and keep an eye on our SRC page for more information about this year's line up of fun!

For more information about accessible Library services and resources, please see our Accessibility page.

More About National AccessAbility Week

Join us from May 29 to June 4, 2022 for National AccessAbility Week (NAAW) to:

  • Celebrate the valuable contributions and leadership of Canadians with disabilities;
  • Highlight the work of individuals, organizations and communities who are removing barriers; and
  • Reflect on our ongoing efforts to become a better, more accessible, more disability inclusive Canada

This year the theme for National AccessAbility Week is “Inclusive from the start”.

Imagine a Canada where no one is left out. A Canada that does not just accommodate disability, but one that is disability inclusive from the start. That is the Canada we are creating – for everyone.

Please see the National AccessAbility website for more information.
