The Wild and Wonderful World of Rivers and Forests with Ginalina

This presentation is a celebration of nature and ecodiversity.  It includes an author sharing, book reading, nature concert, and a “spotlight on the classroom” discussion where students will be creatively inspired and engaged to reflect on ways we can help keep our world beautiful!  Free curriculum-compatible learning extensions, activity sheets, and music downloads are available to complement this presentation.

  • 3-minute animated music video featuring the river or forest biome (related to the book).
  • An introduction from the author about her awe for cedar trees, sparrows, spiders, and river otters, her path to music and books, and her love of celebrating community and nature with others.
  • An interactive reading of The Mighty River or The Lively Forest.  Note that during the presentation students will be playfully challenged to 1) look for special and new river animals as they are named, 2) examine the changing borders (moon phases or life cycle of a tree) with every page turn, and 3) identify the variety of community activities taking place outdoors.
  • A nature concert featuring guitar and ukulele (English, French, action-songs, and sing-alongs are available.)
  • A "spotlight on the classroom" so that students can be inspired and engaged to express their ideas on how to protect the environment.
  • Questions and answers.
