Bowmanville Branch Re-Opens!

As of Monday, October 5th, the Bowmanville Branch will open for Grab & Go Service! The Bowmanville Accessibility Redesign Project has been completed; we thank everyone for their patience and their input and feedback throughout the process.

Bowmanville Branch will be open Monday to Thursday 10am to 7:30pm, Friday 10am to 6pm, Saturday 10am to 4:30pm, and Sunday 12 to 4:30pm. Please see our Locations & Hours page for hours of operation across the system.

Members will be able to browse displays featuring high-interest items, pick up their holds, and access computers and WiFi (walk-in one-hour time slots available). Please see our Grab & Go page for more information and a list of frequently asked questions.

Item Holds

Members may once more select the Bowmanville Branch as the pick-up location for their Library materials! Log into your account to update your preferences and upcoming holds, or for holds already available for pickup, please contact the holding branch.

For holds not yet available:

  1. Log into your account through our online catalogue, then click on the My Account link on the top menu
  2. On the Personal Information tab:
    • Expand the Preference menu
    • Set your Preferred Pickup Library as Bowmanville
    • Click the Update button
  3. On the Holds tab:
    • Select the items that need their pickup location changed, or click the 'select all' box at the top
    • Click the Update Pickup Location(s) button
    • In the window that pops up, your selected items should have your preferred pickup location already selected. If it does not, select your preferred Library branch for pickup.
    • Click the Change button

For holds available for pickup:

  1. Please contact the Library branch that has your items available for pickup, and staff will ensure the items will be re-routed to Bowmanville. You will receive a notification once the items are ready for pickup at the Bowmanville Branch.

More About the Bowmanville Accessibility Redesign Project

The goal of the Bowmanville Accessibility Redesign Project was to create a more flexible space that better serves the needs of our community and members. Public input was an integral part of the design process, with members of the public, staff, Board members, Municipal Council, community organizations, and other stakeholders providing their suggestions and feedback. 

Accessibility improvements include:

  • New non-slip flooring on the main level;
  • Improved lighting in the atrium area, over the customer service desks, and in the restrooms;
  • Accessible customer service desks;
  • A new universal washroom on the first floor;
  • Expanded front entrance and install automatic sliding doors; and
  • Improved access to the restrooms on the mezzanine level.
