Library Board

Steven lives with his family in Bowmanville. Previously Steven was the elected Clarington Ward 1 Councillor and served for 2 terms as a Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board trustee. Steven’s passion for public service led him to employment on the political staff of both federal and provincial levels of government. In his leisure time, Steven enjoys playing and coaching softball and soccer.

Tenzin is a life-long resident of Clarington. Tenzin’s passion for community service led him to serve as student trustee on the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, as a Youth Councillor and as Executive Director of the Clarington Youth Council. In addition, Tenzin serves on Clarington’s Diversity Advisory Committee and the Region of Durham’s Energy from Waste – Waste Management Advisory Committee. Tenzin has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree and sought appointment to the Library Board to contribute to shaping the roles of the library and museum in our vibrant community.

Nancy has lived in Clarington since 2015. She has a Bachelors degree in Human Resources and Labour Relations and she is accredited by the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario (HRPA) as a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL). Nancy has also obtained accreditation as a Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) from the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering. A lifelong patron of public libraries, Nancy sought appointment to the Library Board to support the evolution of Clarington's library services amidst substantial community growth.

Ron is a life-long resident of Bowmanville and recently retired from his role for 16 years as the local Councillor for Ward 2. Ron is one of the first graduates of Durham College's Marketing programs and an Award of Distinction recipient. He is President of Hooper's Jewellers (a family operated business since 1945) and former Chair of the Historic Downtown Bowmanville Business Improvement Area (BIA) serving on the board for over 30 years. Ron is the Past President of the Clarington Board of Trade, founding member of Bowmanville Concerts in the Park and has served on many committees within the community.

Raised in Orono, Donald has a Master of Library Science degree and has assumed professional, managerial, and executive positions in various public and provincial ministry libraries in Ontario and Quebec. Prior to retirement, Donald assumed a role in labour relations and collective bargaining, pay equity and wage harmonization, having received accreditation from the Human Resources Association of Ontario. Donald sought appointment to the Library Board to pursue efforts in shaping appropriate library/museum/archives services for a municipality experiencing extensive and increasingly diverse population growth.

Lloyd Rang lives in Ward 2 with his family and enjoys spending time in Clarington’s parks and greenspace. Lloyd is serving his first term on Clarington Council as Councillor for Ward 2. Lloyd Has a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Master of Arts in History, a Master of Arts in Writing and a Bachelor of Education. Lloyd has worked locally as a teacher, in hospital administration at Lakeridge Health and in communications for the Ontario government. Lloyd owns a marketing/communications company based out of Bowmanville.

Marina is a life-long resident of Clarington. She has a Bachelor of Arts, and a Master of Information Science specialized in Library and Information Science and Archives and Records Management. Marina has served on the Clarington Heritage Committee, the Accessibility Advisory Committee, was elected Chair of the Clarington Museums and Archives Committee in addition to performing duties as the Southern Ontario Library Service trustee during the Library Board’s previous term.

Katherine is an elementary school teacher and has lived in Clarington for the past 12 years with her husband and 2 daughters. Katharine has a Bachelor of Education and an undergraduate degree in History and Anthropology. Katharine has served on the Clarington Museums & Archives Committee, the Clarington Public Library Board, the Clarington Heritage Committee and worked as the Interim Director of the Clarington Museums & Archives.

Monika was appointed Chief Executive Officer to the Clarington Library, Museum & Archives in 2022. Monika has held senior leadership roles in public libraries over the past 15 years, including the CEO for the East Gwillimbury Public Library, the fastest growing municipality in Canada. Prior to her appointment at CLMA, she also served on the Board of Directors for the Sharon Temple National Historic Site. Monika is an active member and speaker at a number of professional organizations including the Canadian Urban Libraries Council, Federation of Ontario Public Libraries and the Ontario Library Association.
