Inter-Library Loan Service Resumes

Clarington Public Library is resuming its Inter-library loan (ILLO) service through the Southern Ontario Library Service (SOLS) as of Monday, June 17.

ILLO Changes

ILLO delivery service will operate through Canada Post with several key changes:

  • Turn-around time: ILLO'ed items may take longer to arrive, approximately four (4) to six (6) weeks.
  • Fee for failure to pick-up: members who do not pick up their ILLO requests will be billed a $2 fee.

Before you place your ILLO request, you may be able to access that older novel or classic movie immediately through our eCollection with Overdrive or Hoopla!

ILLO Policy

As per our Inter-Library Loan Policy, all types of materials may be requested, subject to the availability and the inter-library loan policies of the lending libraries. However, Clarington Public Library will not request or loan the following:

  • Rare, fragile and/or valuable books and manuscripts;
  • Material in current and/or recurring demands such as bestsellers (current demand is defined as items published in current and previous year);
  • Course and project material;
  • Current editions of standard reference materials;
  • Materials in format or size not suitable for loan such as kits, technology, loose-leaf materials;
  • Entire issues of periodicals.

We appreciate your patience as we resume operations after the service disruption.
