About Us

The Clarington Public Library, with four locations in Bowmanville, Courtice, Newcastle, and Orono, provides a wealth of services to the community, serving a population of 87,000 people over an area of 600 square kilometres.  We loan materials, host programs for children, teens and adults, offer free wireless Internet access, and provide 24/7 access to a wide range of online resources.

 Bowmanville Branch

Interesting fact: The Bowmanville Branch is adjoined to the Municipal Administration Centre, and features Dewey's Café, a fireside lounge, and two digital microfilm readers.

Courtice Branch

Interesting fact: The Courtice Branch is located in the Courtice Community Complex, which houses a pool, fitness centre, day care facility, dance studio, and two meeting rooms.

Newcastle Branch

Interesting fact: The Newcastle Branch was newly constructed in August 2009, and features a colourful children's area, a quiet study room, a meeting room with digital projector, and exterior reading benches.

Orono Branch

Interesting fact: The Orono Branch is a house that was originally built in 1882 and was purchased by the Library Board in 1969 through a bequest.  There is a gazebo on the property that is regularly used for community events.
